Elements and Performance Criteria
- Operate wool grease recovery equipment
- All necessary settings and preparation for wool grease recovery and waste disposal equipment operation are identified and assessed in accordance with specifications and workplace standard procedures
- Work area around wool grease recovery and waste disposal equipment is cleaned and maintained to meet workplace and OHS practices
- Wool grease separator and ancillary equipment are started
- Flows are switched and regulated to achieve optimum plant efficiency
- Wool grease separator and ancillary equipment are stopped or shut down in accordance with all safety and workplace standard operating procedures
- Carry out operator maintenance
- Minor running problems are identified, corrected by the operator where appropriate, and reported in accordance with workplace and equipment manufacturer procedures
- Major equipment or product faults are reported
- Cleaning of separator and other equipment, and minor maintenance are performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace procedures
- Control process variables
- Control panels are monitored and adjustments made in accordance with workplace procedures to achieve quality standards
- Water levels and temperatures are regularly monitored and adjusted where necessary to ensure correct processing
- All flow rates are monitored and adjusted where necessary
- Visual inspection of machine is routinely conducted to ensure efficient operation
- Monitor product quality
- Material flow is monitored
- Equipment operation is checked to ensure efficient operation in accordance with workplace or manufacturer procedures
- Quality requirements for the grease recovery products are correctly identified and applied at all stages of the process
- Any deviations from normal are recognised, isolated and reported
- Environmental requirements and procedures concerned with waste, pollution and recycling of materials are correctly applied at all stages of the process
- Communicate production information
- Records and other documentation required by workplace procedures are clearly and accurately completed
- Information from other operators, shifts and supervisory personnel regarding production status and problems are accurately interpreted by the operator
